This is my entry for TheOnlyDoylie's "Betrayal" Contest. (My first ever contest entry! :])Use high-quality when viewing!Thank you! :]****************************Ah! Finally, after all of my extreme-procrastination... this video is done! :] I'm pretty glad with how it came out. Although the video won't win (I know it won't, but I'm hoping for 3rd), it's simple and not over-the-top. Definitely my style. :]First of all:This would be my first Final Fantasy XII video... I chose FFXII instead of Final Fantasy VII because I figured most people would make a FFVII video. I, 1. Wanted to be different, and 2. Wanted to make a video about Larsa and his troubles. ;] Plus, it's more of a challenge using FFXII material... there's not enough development for each character. :PSecond of all:I took out one repeat of the chorus. It make the video shorter (by about 20 seconds) and it was just getting kinda repetitive. Third of all:Let's see... I'll put the info all together below.Video: Final Fantasy XII.Audio: "Starting Over" by Saliva.Program Used: Sony Vegas 7.0Focus: Larsa and his relationships with Vayne and Penelo. Follows the canon storyline.The Story:****************************In relation to the theme, I feel that the worst kind of betrayal is betrayal within yourself. Because, if this makes any sense, you should be able to trust yourself more than anyone else... and when your body does something unexpected, well, it's scary. You're betraying... yourself. Everything you've ever known as trust is gone, if you don't have faith in yourself....If you can't trust in yourself in this crazy, messed-up reality called life, who CAN you trust? No one.And this, I fear, is the pain inflicted on a young Larsa Ferrinas Solidor. Growing up, he thrived on Archadian rule and looked up to his father and brother(s). He gave Vayne the benefit of the doubt. The man was troubled, not evil, according to Larsa. He supported Vayne more than anything and constantly tried to steer him in a more peace-oriented direction. Larsa always tried to pick up the broken pieces of Vayne's destruction. And then he met our heroic group. He and Penelo, especially, formed a bond that weakened his faith in Vayne. He learned what it was like on Dalmasca's side of the fence. He became friends (something he didn't seem to have much of, being as sheltered as he was) with them. He realized, in one fateful instance, that Vayne is wrong. And only Larsa could stop him. Larsa had to use every ounce of willpower in his tense little body to prevent Vayne's success. He ultimately, for the good of Archadia's enemy and a peaceful world, betrayed everything he's ever known and moved into a position against Vayne. Against his ONLY family. He turned the final fight into a Solidor versus Solidor match. He threw away all the good feelings and admiration for a stir in his subconscious.He thought what he was doing would be better for Archadia and Dalmasca.Sure... in the end, everything seems fine. Larsa is emperor, with Basch as at his side... but knowing that he aided in the murder of his older brother for what was deemed "good" and "just"... but realizing that he wouldn't be able to see his "friends" and that Penelo had run off with Vaan... but seeing that he is a THIRTEEN year-old EMPEROR and has to become a true adult, making decisions that effect an entire COUNTRY of people... the hurt Larsa must feel. ...Of betraying his country, his family, and himself.
