Dec 5, 2008 - Very cool technique with tapping the 15. Seems like the ideal way to preserve crestal bone, beating even a piezo. What type of implant? I noticed you tapped in a threaded fixture, and added bone at the crestal of the fixture before placement. What are the advantages of this technique vs. driving a fixture in and then adding the cadaver bone?

Dec 5, 2008 - The implant is actually a specialized implant designed specifically for this procedure. It is a finned (not threaded) Tatum "D" shaped implant. It is flat on its "palatal" side and D-shaped on the facial side. The reason of the bone graft at the time of placement is the depth of the fins of the implant. We wanted to assure that there is plenty of graft in the fin space.
