Dec 3, 2008 - isn't it tighter to grab your wrist instead of s-grip?

budoatemaildotcom Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Great question! There are 2 reasons that this particular choke is more effective with the S-grip. 1. Reach distance. Check the difference. An s-grip gives you about 5-6" longer grip. When reaching all the way down for this choke, you need that distance.2. Grip profile (i.e. how easy it is to slip under his chin). Try this yourself: Do an S-Grip and note the "thickness/profile" of the grip. Now try a wrist grab. The s-grip is "thinner" and is more likely to slip under his chin.Try it!-Dave
