KES BIOKees Dieffenthaller began performing in the late 90's, fronting a cover band that specialized in Billboard chart-toppers and popular reggae tracks. With his vocal range, stage presence, good looks, and uncanny ability to mimic artists like Sean Paul, Bounty Killa, Marvin Gaye and other major artists... Kees quickly created a buzz and attracted a large, loyal following. The group moved from small venues to larger stages and then on to huge festivals. They eventually started touring throughout the Caribbean and beyond. On the crest of all this success and momentum, Kees exited the cover band circuit in 2005 and formed his own band KES. The group features his brothers Hans, Jon, and Riad (on guitars and drums), along with the support of a DJ and keyboardist. Within this new context, Kees was now able to exploit his incredible talents as a songwriter and add some energetic original compositions into the band's set. Since branching out on their own, their musical direction is best labeled as "Jammerz", (a unique blend of soulful vocals and calypso-inspired melodies, over a fusion of rock riffs and island beats). This style has elevated Kes to stardom, allowing the band to become a household name in Trinidad & Tobago and throughout the Caribbean circuit; where they consistently win over audiences with their electric performances and their ability to mix-up original material with current popular tracks. They never fail to get a crowd jumping! Kes has shared the stage and performed with major artists like Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray) and Patti LaBelle; furthermore, they have opened up for such megastars as: Sean Paul, Musiq Soul Child, Usher, John Legend, Rihanna, and dozens of other established acts. In 2006 Kes released a track entitled, "Stay With Me" which stayed nine weeks at #1 on Toronto Lime (a Canadian Caribbean Chart). They followed this up in 2007 with three more tracks which all went on to become major hits on the Caribbean charts: "Lion" (garnered them a COTT Award - the Caribbean version of a Grammy), "Right Dey," as well as, a remix collaboration on Brick & Lace's Billboard hit, "Love is Wicked." The band's exposure and notoriety simply continues to grow. They travel regularly to all corners of the globe to perform. Their music has been featured on television shows and they grabbed a coveted spot on the soundtrack for EA Games "FIFA World Cup." Most recently, Kes has begun collaborating with major industry talents such as songwriter Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Ricky Martin, Aerosmith) and producer Richard Browne (T.O.K., Beenie Man, Buju Banton). Future plans include partnering with major artists in the reggae and hip-hop fraternity (with upcoming tracks scheduled for an end of the year release). Kes continues to build their fan base, routinely selling out shows throughout the Caribbean, Canada, and parts of the US. They deliver high-paced, energetic performances wherever they go. It's simply a matter of time before, just like in the Caribbean... they become a household name on a global level.
