This channel is exclusively meant for pashto music, and to profile the lives of pashto singers, composers and movie artists. Just like other aspects of life such as politics, economy, religion, culture, and history, music is very important and needs to be acnowledged as such.Pashto music has been around for centuries. All pukhtuns, men and women alike, have natural affinity for pashto music. There was a time when pukhtun women would work side by side with fellow men in fields, and express their emotions by singing pashto songs (including tappay, charbetay, lobay, misraezay). But sadly it is no more true. Pukhtun culture and pukhtuns seem to be engulfed by strife and violence these days. Pashto music, in particular has been a target and there seems to be a conscious effort on the part of some to erase all traces of pashto music and its history. To get an idea as to what kind of music I have uploaded so far, I encourage you to browse through my playlists, notably those on pashto audio music from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s to find how pashto music of those years sounded like. At the sametime, I want to empasize that although I love pashto music, the uploaded videos do not necessarily reflect my preferences.Definitely, there is a need to improve on how best we can document pashto music, its history and the lives of those who contributed to it. Thus, I would like you to send me comments and ideas in this regards. In particular, I want those of you who have information about pashto music artists to send it to me for inclusion in this channel. To get an idea what I am looking for, I suggest that you browse through my playlist titled: "Biographies of pashto music artists." It is only by collective effort that we can preserve and enrich pashto music. Pashto music can revive but only if pukhtuns can be themselves again as they used to be. They seem to have forgotten their true identity. I wholeheartedly concur with the great pashto poet, philsosopher and visionary Amir Hamza Shinwari who wrote: "Waayi Aghyar Chey Da Dozakht Jaba Da;Zu ba Janat Ta Da Pukhto Sara Zam."AnwarGul
